Welcome to the magical world of Falabella Horses. At heart, de La Rousille is a private breeding programme in South-West France — dedicated to rarity, beauty, temperament and responsible legacy.
We raise the world's smallest horse not as livestock, but as companions: each foal placed slowly, deliberately, and only into a home prepared for a lifetime of care.
"A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse."
— William Shakespeare
From the plains of Argentina to the hills of Occitanie, the Falabella line has been shaped by patient, careful hands across thirteen generations.
Bred near Buenos Aires from the rarest small horses on the pampas — a bloodline guarded by a single family for over a century.
Each pairing is chosen for conformation, health and gentleness of spirit — never for volume. Quality over quantity, always.
A Falabella is a decades-long companion. We place each foal with the understanding that this is a commitment for life.
Our foundation mares arrived from the United Kingdom, and our beautiful boy Nagirrom arrived from the Czech Republic. The first La Rousille births are expected in 2027.
New births are expected from Solita and Valegra in 2027. Babies may be reserved in advance by serious clients, following a review of the future home environment.
Each foal is matched to one home — never first-come, but best-suited.
Full lineage, veterinary records and a bespoke care manual travel with every horse.
We remain available for guidance for the entire life of every foal we place.
We welcome private viewings and serious acquisition enquiries from clients who understand that a Falabella is a companion animal. It is a rare heritage horse, a lifelong friend and a small talisman of elegance.
Your enquiry has reached us. We reply personally to every serious client, usually within a few days.
